Building Protection Systems (NI) Ltd proved that the company is in a good state of health by winning the Fire & Security Contractor of the Year title. The company, which last year celebrated its 35th anniversary, is one of the largest, independent-owned specialist electronic fire and security services companies in Northern Ireland and the judges were impressed by the vast array of prestigious projects highlighted in the BPS entry. This included a number of notable healthcare projects such as the Omagh Hospital & Primary Care Complex; Altnagelvin Hospital’s new Radiotherapy/Centre; and the Ulster Hospital’s new Inpatient Ward Block.
Proof to the company’s high standards of work was the comprehensive testimonial from the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust that praised the extensive work carried out by BPS on the Ulster Hospital Inpatient Ward Block project, both in the initial design stages and during the construction of this forward-thinking, state-of-the-art hospital block.
The Inpatient Ward Block consists of 288 single bed rooms, nine operating theatres and various outpatient clinics and, from the early stages, it was recognised that the fire alarm, security systems and networks would require a high level of design plus integration with the existing site infrastructure. That BPS played such a critical role in the design and implementation of these systems is one of the clear reasons why the judges awarded the company this prestigious title.
“The scale of the Ulster Hospital project by BPS emphasised the leadership, management and client focus skills across a multisited project and proved the perfect example of the high levels of quality consistently delivered.”
